Welcome! My name is Dominique Sharp, and as a 1st year teaching student at Australian Catholic University, I am required to write a blog for the unit COMM140.
Now, that may seem like the reason for me writing this, but to be fair, I have wanted for a while now to create a single space (I hadn't decided on whether I wanted a book or a blog) where I can collect and store my thoughts and ideas throughout my training. So what better time to start than now?
I have never been much of reflective writer. In fact, throughout primary school, I would face a wave of anxiety when faced with the 'terrifying' concept of writing about my holidays (what happened? How could I possibly describe it? What parts do I actually choose? So many possibilities, so little time!). To this day, I still feel a sense of panic when I read 'reflective writing' on the semester assignment list.
My goal for this blog, while addressing the given criteria, is to face some of my fears head on, and create a page that genuinely reflects my thoughts on the issues I face, rather than just trying to meet the criteria.
For the most part, all written on this site will by my own work, unless I have referenced otherwise (because, let's be honest here, I probably will be looking at various 'help' sites in order to try figure out how to actually achieve my goal!)
So, there it is, my reason, what I hope to achieve, and a promise of authenitic, straight-from-the-heart writings. This is going to be an interesting journey, wish me luck!
